New Pastor
The Pastor Search Team is happy to announce that Reverend John Daugherty of Louisiana, has accepted our call to become our senior pastor. Reverend Daugherty began his service February 10, 2008.

Together with our neighboring communities of faith, First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church, we have committed to being a force for Christian ministry in the downtown area through the newly formed Trinity Village. While maintaining our distinct worshipping communities, we have determined to share resources and ministry in the years to come as we work to be a vital part of downtown Fort Myers. We believe much can be accomplished through cooperation and missional commitment to minister to the needs of our neighbors and to proclaim hope through faith in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. First Baptist Church has also committed to a gift-based approach to leadership and organization. We believe Christ has called and gifted every believer in the kingdom work and has formed the many parts into one body for the purpose of serving, giving, doing, going, and loving in his name. We believe this to be a biblical model for being the church and for helping individual believers realize and fulfill their God given calling to be on mission as the presence of Christ. No one community of faith can be all and do all for every single person and his or her need. However, we believe God has uniquely called and gifted us to be in this place at this time for the purpose of being the presence of Christ in downtown Fort Myers. We have love to share, room to grow, a heart for mission and ministry, a commitment to excellence, and a call to share good news to all who come our way. DOWNTOWN ALLIANCE
OF CHURCHES
The downtown churches, First Baptist, First Presbyterian,
and First United Methodist, have combined Wednesday dinner and Bible study,
meeting here at FBC. The pastors rotate the service.

2008
is a new year with wonderful challenges and opportunities for
First Baptist Church. Phyllis and I are excited and honored to be invited
to come alongside this great congregation to serve as pastor and look
forward to meeting our new church family and community. We certainly
invite our neighbors to come and join us for worship and give us and
the entire family at First Baptist the opportunity to extend welcome
and introduce you to this wonderful community of faith.
