The
Trinity Village Pledge Sunday, a combined service of First
Baptist, First United Methodist, and First Presbyterian congregations, was
a historic service held at Harborside Center. It was the first time these
three different churches had meet together for a Sunday Worship Service.
An inspirational service was presented with wonderful music by an 80+ voice
combined choir directed by Dr. Nancy Cobb-Lippins. Rev. Allen Walworth of
Generis Partners, was the preacher.
The worship service was followed by a brief review of Trinity Village and
pledges were accepted. $165,000 was pledged, and additional pledges will
be accepted through Nov. 11. (Please call the church office if you were
unable to attend. A DVD of the service will be available.)
A lunch buffet was served.

only three of the five Fort Myers council members were at Monday's meeting,

All three churches voted to continue the process of developing the concept
into more concrete terms.

Trinity Village is both a concept and a dream.
The CONCEPT: Churches of different denominations share a common ground with separate worship facilities and common administration, education, social and parking space.
THE DREAM: The congregations of the First Baptist Church of Fort Myers, the First United Methodist Church of Fort Myers, and the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers will share approximately 5 acres in downtown Fort Myers where First Baptist and First Presbyterian are currently located across the street from each other with First Methodist to build a new sanctuary in between. The gym and commercial kitchen at First Baptist Church will be shared. Current aging buildings will be replaced. New construction may include: new dining hall (which could serve at a hurricane shelter for downtown Fort Myers), new education and office space to be shared by all three congregations, entry level and senior housing and a new parking garage.
